Implementation of Pancasila Value through Excursion Study

UNAIR NEWS – Director of Education Universitas Airlangga Prof. Bambang Sektiari sent 288 students from all faculties off to join the excursion study on Saturday, October 21. In contrast to the previous year, the excursion study with the theme, Implementation of Pancasila Values in Campus Life, this year was held in Trawas, Mojokerto.

Prof. Bambang in his speech before sending the students off hoped that after the two-day excursion study, students can implement Pancasila in daily life.

“Hopefully after following the excursion study students can bring the feel of Pancasila in campus or in society, not just for himself,” said Prof. Bambang.

Excursion study whose output is the implementation of Pancasila values, the participants get insights directly from the Presidential Work Unit of Pancasila Ideology Development. They are Prof. Haryono and Drs. Bambang Budiono, M.Si.

This excursion study is held as University Compulsory Subject (MKWU). The head of the MKWU Dr. Listiyono Santoso, M. Hum in his speech said that all UNAIR students of any departments must have the same character. To that end, they follow this excursion study so the campus mandated as an institution that educates students with Pancasila values can be realized.

“If you graduate from UNAIR but still have a racist attitude, it means there is a serious problem in the campus learning,” said Listiyono.

The values of Pancasila as presented by Listiyono must be reflected in the norms. Norms are not enough to be taught only in classes, but it they must be realized in society.

Radical Thinking

Meanwhile, Bambang Budiono suggested the participants to become radical students. Here, radical means that students are able to unpack a thought down to its roots.

“If you do not think radically, you will not innovate and discover new things. But it should not be radicalism with SARA sentiments, “said Bambang.

In the discussion session, Haryono hoped that the participants can be creative youth groups, as well as youth who are able to respond to differences. Therefore, Pancasila as the ideology of the nation is the manifestation of all the differences in Indonesian society.

“When other nations have spoken about the possibility of humans living on Mars and other planets, we are still making a ruckus over tribal, religious, racial and group differences (SARA). I hope these youth can become creative small groups, see things in a new way, “said Haryanto.

The excursion study in the afternoon was continued with critical thinking sessions with THINK method, Total Recall, Habits, Inquiry, News Ideas and Creativity, and Knowing How You Think. (*)
