UNAIR NEWS – The national anthem and Airlangga Hymn echoed in Garuda Mukti Hall, Universitas Airlangga Management Building, Campus C, Tuesday afternoon, February 20. There were 95 nurses of Faculty of Nursing (FKp) UNAIR inaugurated by Vice Rector IV UNAIR Junaidi Khotib, S.Si, Apt., M.Kes, Ph.D.
The inauguration marked the success of the nurses in their long education for 5 years. They have studied at FKp UNAIR with various high competency targets.
Representing the nurses, Gunawan, S. Kep., Ns., expressed appreciation to all parents for their prayers and support, the 95 nurses can be sworn in the first inauguration of 2018 and to UNAIR academicians, especially FKp, in educating them.
“May their prayers and support (parents, ed) continue to accompany our steps (nurses) to serve humanity. And, continue to be able to retain alma mater’s excellent reputation wherever they devote their skills, “said Gunawan.

Furthermore, the Dean of FKp UNAIR Prof. Nursalam, S.Kp., M.Nurs., in his speech mentioned that being part of UNAIR, the nurses must have pride and confidence. Although the accreditation is good, efforts to improve the quality to excellent level should also continue to be done and encouraged by UNAIR.
“If you know, FKp UNAIR is one of the best nursing program in Eastern Indonesia,” he said. “Therefore, admission in UNAIR is very difficult. And, once they are admitted, graduation is difficult. So, the nurses are ready to serve the community, “he said followed with an applause of the audience.
He added, FKp has been accredited by AUN (ASEAN University Network), a certification body for ASEAN level, Southeast Asia. In addition, in the future, the improvement of education infrastructure to modern facilities will be included in the next FKp development agenda.
“Congratulations. The nurses from various regions in Indonesia are here. This is our diversity. Insha Allah , the inaugurated nurses today become superior ners, who are independent, and who can compete in the global era, “he said.
The Vice Rector IV, Junaidi acknowledged that efforts to achieve accreditation improvement is continuously done by UNAIR. Not just FKP, but also all faculties. He added that this is part of the development of UNAIR in accordance with the short-term master plan as well as the long term that has been proclaimed.
“The short term covers the next five years. And, the long term until 2035, “he said. “With that (standardization, ed) confidence of the graduates can be lifted. Furthermore, the best contribution from graduates can be achieved, “he added.
To all nurses, Junaidi advised to uphold the code of ethics of nursing. In addition, he reminded the era of MEA (Asian Economic Community) next year. He added that it could be an opportunity as well as a challenge for the nurses.
“It was an opportunity for nurses to take part at international level. It also becomes the challenge of entry of outside nurses. However, a positive culture through the stadardization of competencies tailored to the challenge must be the provision of nurses to contribute their best in their respective places of service, “he said. (*)
