UNAIR NEWS – Indonesian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Dr. Aulia A. Rahman, S.H., M.Si., visited Universitas Airlangga on Thursday, March 1 to discuss various potentials of cooperation, especially in the field of education, with the leaders of UNAIR. In addition, Aulia delivered a public lecture in front of students about Indonesia’s relationship with Czechoslovakia and the European Union over the years.
Head of AGE (Airlangga Global Engagement) Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si., in the meeting revealed that the visit, in essence, was also a follow up to UNAIR’s victory in the Erasmus project from Europe Union. It is a program of improving the quality of European higher education and strengthening cross-cultural understanding.
“Basically, we are involved in Erasmus Project, Europe. Well, it involves several universities in Czech (Czech Republic, ed), ” she said. “Well, in this case, the ambassador wanted to know more about top universities (Indonesia) involved in Erasmus. So in the future the ambassador can provide assistance related to it, ” she added.
UNAIR involvement, continued Prof. Nyoman, was viewed by the ambassador as an opportunity especially about the possibility of other cooperation in the field of higher education. With these opportunity, UNAIR is expected to be a leader in several courses such as medicine, science and technology, and cultural sciences.
Following up the visit, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak, CMA., invited several UNAIR leaders. Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology Prof. Win Darmanto, Drs., M.Si., Ph.D.; Dean of Faculty of Law Prof., Dr., Abd. Shomad, Drs., SH., MH.; Vice Dean III of Faculty of Cultural Science Rizki Andini, S.Pd., M.Litt., Ph.D; and Head of ITD (Institute of Tropical Disease) Prof. Maria Inge Lusida were invited in the meeting.
Meanwhile, regarding the meeting, Aulia said that the visit was to share a vision on what is developing in Europe with what is prepared by Indonesian education, especially UNAIR. According to the lecturers’ talks, he added, UNAIR is among the most prepared to face the 4th revolution.
Digital technology, continued Aulia, must be mastered. One of the readiness to face it is through a good education system. “Therefore, Universitas Airlangga is expected to lead in this issue (4th revolution, ed),” he said. (*)
