UNAIR NEWS – Studying abroad is the dream of all students because it is a prestige that not all students can achieve. The Department of Student Resource Development (PSDM) BEM Faculty of Nursing (FKp) Universitas Airlangga ( UNAIR ) held an inspiring talk show called Study Abroad: Is It Worth. The talk show was held in Shared Lecture Building, MERR C Campus on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

The talk show also invited a speaker, Dr. Yulis Setiya Dewi SKep Ns M.Ng. She serves as Head of Advanced Nursing Department and has many achievements, including continuing her master’s studies in Australia. On that occasion, Yulis shared her experiences during her master’s degree study in Australia. In pursuing her master’s degree, she faced many obstacles, from preparation to her departure to Australia.

One of the obstacles she experienced was financial limitations. She experienced this when preparing the required administrative documents, the IELTS test. Financial limitations did not prevent her prepare for IELTS test at an affordable cost. She copied friends’ and the library’s books so she could study in his spare time.

In addition to financial constraints, managing time was a challenge during her study preparation as apart from being a lecturer and head of the department, she is a housewife with children.

“Honestly, when I share my experience with you, I am overwhelmed because during my study process, it was quite difficult, plus I was a housewife,” she added.

Yulis’s departure was postponed because she was pregnant with her second child when she was about to leave. She felt drained due to her natural ordeals, but thanks to the support from her husband and family, she managed to get rid of her tiredness to get a higher education.

Furthermore, Yulis urged students not to get tired of pursuing their dreams, especially studying abroad. “Nothing is impossible in this world; as long as there is a will there is always a miracle, believe me!,” she concluded.
