“Kampoeng Aksi” UNAIR Banyuwangi Accounting Students Support UKM Management

UNAIR NEWS – “Kampoeng Aksi” was the name of the event held by PDD Universitas Airlangga Banyuwangi Accounting students. They supported and provided solution to deal with tight business competition of between traditional UKM in Gombengsari, Banyuwangi on Sunday, November 20.

There are a lot of small and medium enterprises (UKM) in Gombengsari, especially for coffee, bananas and handcraft production. There are about 300 UKMs. But UKM can be threatened by modern business with better structures.

According to I Gede Oka M.S.P, head of the committee, “Kampoeng Aksi” was held to improve potentials of the local businesses which will be lasted for five years. In the first year, there will be a potential UKM survey. In the second year, there will be specifications and re-development of UKM. In the third year, there will be an evaluation and controlling in the fourth year and in the last year, they can run the business independently.

The participants of “Kampoen Aksi” were the owners of UKM in Gombengsari, Banyuwangi. The first year activity was started with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Saturday, November 19. Then there was a social service by students with callisthenic activity, potential survey and bookkeeping training for the established UKM.

”This bookkeeping training was held so the UKM owners can manage their business structurally and predict their profit and loss every month. It was held because they never had any similar trainings before, so they can predict their income every month,” said Gede Oka.

Suprapto, 44, a practitioner of welding and motorbike spare parts UKM, was happy with the training as his business will be well managed.

“I did not know how to count netto income per month, but because of this training I knew that I actually suffered loss as the old spare parts selling was imbalance with the ones I bought. But I never noticed it as the loss was covered by the service profit and I never count that details,” said Suprapto.

The Head of the Accounting program as well as the coordinating secretary of PDD UNAIR Banyuwangi,  AA Gde Satia Utama, SE, M.Ak.,CA said that he was proud of this creative ideas from the students. They found the problems in the community so the UKM activitists were enthusiastically followed the training. There were presentations on selling information, the latest product marketing, also credit system anticipation which often makes them have to endure long with debts.

“I hope, this activity can be a bridge between the students and the UKM owners and they can support each other for future development,” said Gde Satia Utama, to UNAIR NEWS. (*)
