UNAIR NEWS – Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Karate Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) made another achievement and increased their medal collection. UNAIR delegates who brought home the medals were Ainur Rachma (First winner women’s Kumite single -68 Kg), Fildza Mahira (First winner women’s Kumite single +68 Kg), and Yunara Putri (third winner women’s Kumite single -50 Kg).
In the championship, they managed to be the third winner for women’s kumite team in ITS CUP. The overall competition which took place on 21-22 April was held in Gor Futsal Pertamina ITS. The Java Bali competition followed the successful campaigns of  of achievements made by UNAIR Karate Club.
“Women’s kumite qualification round was against Malang State University (UM). Then the final round was against the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, and meet UM again, “said Galih as Head of Karate Club.
Some universities participating in the event were Universitas Brawijaya, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Telkom University, and UM.
Although there were some obstacles, the enthusiasm was very high so they can overcame the challenges. In fact, the constraints were not felt by the team members.
“The obstacles are limited to administration. That is because there is a miscommunication. But it does not become a significant obstacle. Thank goodness we can make the achievement. We are very happy, because with the two week preparation, we have got the title, “said the Faculty of Vocational Studies student.
Previously, a series of achievements have been made by members UNAIR Karate Club. In Jombang Open event of 2017, they brought home 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 2 bronze medals. Most recently, on 30 April, in UNESA CUP event, the delegates won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. (*)
