UNAIR NEWS – There were 262 students and supervising lecturers in the Study Excursie 2016. The group was welcomed by the Head of Nation, Political Unity and Community Protection Division on behalf of the Regent of Kediri on Saturday, May 14, in Kediri Regency Pavilion.
In his welcoming address, The Head of Bakesbangpol Kediri Drs. Mujahid, MM, was honored as his regency was chosen as the location of study excursion of UNAIR Compulsory Course (MKWU). Through the SE activity which learns about diversity, Mujahid hoped that students can implement the diverse values on daily basis.
“If one or any of you becomes a leader, hold well the principle of Pancasila,” Mujahid said.
Head of Culture and Tourism Agency Kediri, Drs. D. Sampurno, MM, in his speech said that there were many tourism potentials of this regency which can be developed. At this moment, his agency is developing many tourism programs either historical or educational programs.
With this implemented SE program, Director of Education UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si, said that students can get many lessons through Kediri’s diversity. She also introduced 24 foreign students from AMERTA program. Those foreign students are from many countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Cambodia.
“With the foreign students in the program, when they go back to their counties, they will introduce Indonesia in their hometown,” said Prof. Nyoman.
Prof Nyoman also explained that with the globalization, students as the future leaders should be able to maintain the identity of the Nation.
After being welcomed by the government, the participants visited some tourism sites of historical and modern culture in Kediri. Some of them were Theatre Building, Kelud Museum, Jaranan artistic performance, Tegowangi Temple, Kamandanu Lake, and Simpang Lima Gumul. (*)
