UNAIR NEWS – SEKTOR Press and Student Publishing Institute Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga invited students to engage in journalism. For this reason, they held an event titled School of Journalism ‘Immersed Together in Pen and Camera’ in Mindrowo Hall Campus B, Saturday, September 8.

The School of Journalism invited three speakers, from students and practitioners. They were Moh. Wahyu S, Musahada, and Wirasakti Setyawan. The experience shared by the speakers increased the motivation of the participants.

Musahada, an editor of Surya Online said that being a journalist must have special skills, and be bound code of ethics and company rules. Whereas citizen reporters must be held accountable to themselves and not bound to professional work ethics.

To be a reporter, three ways needed, skepticism, curiosity, and third ‘sharp nose’. On the other hand, there are also observation, flexible personality, and good memory.

Meanwhile, the author of Pelangi Diri  and 46 anthologies Moh. Wahyu said that he had a target to be able to publish one book in one semester.

“To become an author, start with clear intention. In one semester I target at least one book to be published, “he said.

Wahyu, always makes time to write, a third of the night after tahajjud prayer is a suitable time to interact with words.

Meanwhile, Wirasakti Setyawan is known as a reliable photographer and poems writer as he has published a book entitled Temu. The book was about his journey to in America. His Instagram account, @terjebakrindu, has been followed by 21.3K followers.

According to him, college life is not limited to numbers from 0 to number 4. It was able to bring enthusiasm and revival to the student of Industrial Engineering Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Surabaya.

He said that photography is not only from expensive cameras of our won possession. It is not just an interest, but skill that is owned. Then, edit your pictures with Photoshop application or the like.

The famous Wirasakti poem, “Know well that love is not a measure of glass. It is a sea with relentless waves”. So, do your habits consistently because everyone has freedom where to go. (*)
