UNAIR NEWS – After finishing her bachelor’s in March 2016, Manikya Pramudya decided to work first to be able to finance her master’s program. But because of support from her parents, she finally went straight to her master’s study.
“And, when I was admitted at UNAIR, I tried to apply for scholarship. Alhamdulillah, finally graduated, and even became the best master’s graduate of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga. Of course, I am proud, “said Menikya, the graduate with 3.91 GPA.
Indeed, at the beginning of the semester she had time to work as well. However, due to lecture schedules and dense tasks, not to mention her research, she finally stopped working and focused on her study. She worked not to make money.
“I like to teach and I like children, I do not want to leave the job. It could be an refreshing activity, for example when I am stressed with task or project from college, and teaching is a powerful drug to boost my morale, ” she said.
But it can be solved by participating in lecturers’ research with interesting topics. Therefore her thesis explored the potential of Okra fruit as an immunomodulator in terms of activity indicator phagocytosis, TNF-α levels, splenocyte proliferation, and spleen index.
She hoped her research can be used for further research, especially in the search for an alternative prevention of contagious and tropical diseases with the discovery of the active ingredients of herbal ingredients.
“I am waiting for review of two papers I’d published in international journals,” she said about her activities. “I also help the Department of Biology to prepare accreditation documents. Developing SOP of Bilingual Lab, MSDS lab chemicals, and HIRADC for each lab, ” she added.
Later on, she wants to be a lecturer. In addition to applying internship abroad and continue doctoral education (S3). For that there are many that must be prepared, such as scholarships and English language skills. (*)
