UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga inaugurated 98 medical specialists – 1.  The inauguration was held on Wednesday March 23, attended by Deputy Director of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, dr. Bangun Trapsila Purwaka, dr., Sp.OG-K., Dean of FK UNAIR, Prof. Dr. dr. Soetojo, Sp.U., Vice Rector III UNAIR, Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., UNAIR Hospital Management, previous Dean of FK UNAIR and the graduates’ families.

In the inauguration held in FK UNAIR Hall,  Deputy Director of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital explained that to a medical specialist should not only providing treatment as the specialty but should also demonstrate empathy and always apply medical ethics at all times to patients.

“This empathy should be possessed by a medical specialist when providing treatment,” Bangun said in front of the medical specialists.

In the same occasion, Dean of FK UNAIR explained about medical specialists outside Java. He expected the medical specialists’ willingness to serve outside Java.

“According to the data, 70% of medical specialists are in Java and the rest were spread in some islands. It is important for the graduates to serve outside, East Nusa Tenggara, Bangka Belitung, and even Papua. They really need your resources,” he said.

Vice Rector III UNAIR Prof. Amin said similar opinion, the graduates were expected to be useful for the most people.

“To serve, don’t ever hesitate to establish connection. Always hold the motto, excellence with morality. Remember to follow our predecessors who build the alma mater reputation,” said Prof. Amin. (*)
