Minister of Trade Gives General Lecture in FEB UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – A number of infrastructure policies, particularly in the area of export trade, were the topic of questions from Universitas Airlangga students on Wednesday afternoon, August 8. The questions were addressed to the Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita during a general lecture entitled “Encouraging National Export Performance in the Middle of Global Uncertainty”.

Enggartiasto was also invited to commemorate 57th Anniversary of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR in Fadjar Notonegoro Hall. In his presentation, he was very happy and proud of the diverse curiosity of students.

Enggartiasto considered this to be a very positive thing. Given, the problematic challenges of the present era are very complex. He said that students must have caring, critical and solutive way of thinking.

“I am very happy with students who ask a lot. Don’t be monotonous. We also have to get used to a problematic and challenging education climate. And, then dedicate yourself with all the ability to contribute to society, nation and state, “he said.

Regarding efforts to boost export performance, Enggartiasto stated that infrastructure is one of the frameworks for supporting it. He also acknowledged the drawback. However, efforts towards improvement are now being carried out by the government.

Enggartiasto presented the collaborative work with Ministry of Agriculture. The commitment to inter-ministerial work for development. For example, the first export achievement of 60 thousand goats to Malaysia in June 2018.

Responding to the opinion about the expensive toll rates, Enggartiasto considered that was an option. The construction of the toll road is also intended to facilitate the distribution of goods especially improving Indonesia’s export performance.

The government also continues to repair arterial road which is free. According to Enggartiasto, this does not mean that the government makes it difficult. The mindset that says it is expensive needs to be changed because everything needs financing.

“Determining economic growth, we must not think about how much the APBN will contribute because, the APBN is a stimulus, “he said.

However, as president said, the key is investment and exports. Therefore, many policies are made to attract investment especially export oriented investments.

The Dean of FEB UNAIR Dian Agustia also submitted a policy recommendation to the Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita on economic improvement. In the occasion, the leadership of FEB UNAIR with Enggartiasto also inaugurated symbolically the opening of FTA Center and Universitas Airlangga International Trade Education Center. (*)
