Nursing Students Holds Diabetes Care Action

UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR Nursing Students were passionate for Long March Action at CFD (Car Free Day) Taman Bungkul on Sunday, November 12. They got even more spirited as they tied white band and shouted along the march. UNAIR mascot also accompanied them in Long March in the event of Hentakan Aksi Mahasiswa 2017, in commemoration of National Health Day and World Diabetes Day .

The theme of this year’s activity was “Indonesia Diabetes Free”. Students give free health checks to communities located near the skateboard area. In collaboration with Rumah Zakat, the health check includes a blood pressure check and a free blood sugar test. The health check mechanism used coupons distributed by nursing students to the public. The public response was very high and enthusiastic to follow this health check. The activity continued with a petition signature procession on the banner provided for “Marching Together to Prevent Diabetes Free”.

About 75 residents had their health checked, from the young, to the old. They looked so enthusiastic as the stand was crowded. They were the ones who finished exercising or having a stroll in Taman Bungkul. They asked a lot about diabetes.

Nursing faculty students also provide feedback to those who have enthusiastically asked, by providing education about diabetes. Hopefully, people will know the signs and symptoms of diabetes and its preventive measures. As for people who are aware of diabetes, they can check blood sugar regularly and avoid the causes of diabetes. Here’s the documentation:
