Panlok 50 Surabaya Holds Computer Based Exam Simulation

UNAIR NEWS – To prepare the implementation of State University Joint Entrance Test (SBMPTN), Local Committee (Panlok) 50 Surabaya conducted a Computer Based Exam (UTBK) simulation. The simulation was held at UTBK location at Airlangga Medical Education Center (AMEC) Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) on Thursday, April 19.

There was the Head of Panlok 50 Surabaya Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM, University Secretary Koko Srimulyo, M.Si., Dean of Faculty of Medicine UNAIR Prof. Soetojo, dr. Sp.U., and Secretary of Panlok 50 Surabaya Prof. I Made Narsa, Dr., SE., M.Si., Ak. In his speech, Prof. Djoko said that the simulations simultaneously held throughout Indonesia aimed for a thorough preparation on the implementation of SBMPTN on 8 May.

The Vice Rector I UNAIR also added that UTBK is an adaptation of the progress of times. In the future, SBMPTN implementation will fully use UTBK. Indeed, he added, it can not be done immediately in the near future.

“Of course it is done gradually. There is a weakness for UTBK, but compared to printed-based exams, UTBK has some advantages, “said Prof. Djoko.

The Professor of FK UNAIR also said that UTBK is not just a test with computer. Moreover, UTBK is a test that combines both physical and system. Both should give security and control.

“The obstacles such as server problem or power outages must be anticipated and must be dealt with,” he added.

In front of dozens of media crew and students who were doing the test simulation, Prof. Djoko stressed that the test was organized to achieve better effectiveness and security. In addition, according to him, the UTBK test is expected to select the best students of the nation to study at State Universities (PTN).

“Through a good selection, the campus will be filled by the best students of the nation who will continue this nation’s leadership,” he concluded. (*)
