The Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) Scholarship held a Sharing Session activity on Sunday night (13/11/2022). The activity title is “Tales from Around the World: A Glimpse of Europe”. FH UNAIR alumni class of 2018 Zalfa Jatmiko was invited to speak in the sharing session. She is an IISMA 2021 Awardee at Sapienza University of Rome.

Zalfa shared that the learning experience in Rome was unique because the class dynamics were very much based on current issues in the course. Not only that, the methods provided are very up-to-date in the development of existing global problems. As a result, student honing becomes a highly qualified quality resource there.

“From my study in Italy, I got a perspective on the importance of the quality of resources and their development in Indonesia. Europe, which is a small continent, can make good use of the resources they have. Imagine how we can implement this in Indonesia, which is very large,” said the alumni of the 2018 batch.

While studying at Sapienza, Zalfa said that the learning challenges he experienced were that learning was not limited to books. The dynamics of chatting with friends after the class was over was discussing material and current issues. Not only that, learning can also be more flexible there because it is not limited to types. This is because teaching materials and recordings are all available to students.

One thing that needs to be trained when preparing for and carrying out the IISMA program is English. Because of that, Zalfa is trying to improve its English skills by establishing Jatmiko Indonesia, which offers free English classes.

“In preparing for IISMA, don’t forget to seek mentors from seniors or alumni of IISMA to get criticism and suggestions. Not only that, you can hone your interview skills with them. Learn a lot and enrich the perspectives of people abroad,” she concluded.
