UNAIR NEWS – Several students of Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR)  have earned dual degrees. Among them are Haykal Afkar and Gricelin Tristeny Lentik, along with five other students who completed the same program. Afkar and Lentik graduated during the university’s 261st commencement ceremony held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the MERR-C Campus. Both completed the dual degree program in Psychology at UNAIR and pursued further study at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia.

Afkar’s journey as a student in the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) and his decision to pursue a dual degree at QUT was not easy. The program is part of a partnership initiative by UNAIR that enables students to gain academic experience abroad.

“I chose this path because my parents also work in the field of psychology. Through the double degree program, I wanted to understand the differences between the learning materials at UNAIR and QUT so that I can apply the knowledge I gain back in Indonesia,” Afkar said.

After completing his studies, Afkar hopes to contribute to Indonesian society. He believes that many people still face psychological challenges but have not yet received adequate support or solutions.

Similarly, Lentik had developed an interest in psychology during her high school years. She chose UNAIR because it provided an environment where she could grow academically while also offering opportunities to study abroad. During her studies, Lentik successfully joined the double degree program.

By pursuing the program, Lentik hopes to gain knowledge from two universities with different teaching methods and learning systems. “In terms of the subjects, they are quite similar. However, at QUT the approach is more theoretical, while at UNAIR it is more practical,” Lentik explained.

In two years at QUT, Lentik did not encounter significant challenges. Instead, she was able to adapt well to life in Australia. After completing her studies, she hoped to continue pursuing her passion in children’s education, particularly in supporting children with special needs and other learning needs in Indonesia.
