Rector Encourages Academicians to Improve Academic Culture

UNAIR NEWS – Improving the academic culture is one of the important things to improve the quality of education. It is the one thing which is always encouraged by the policy makers of Universitas Airlangga.

The Head of UNAIR Academic Senate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amin in the work meeting held on Wednesday, June 14, said that one of the characteristics of excellent academic culture is the improvement of research.

“For example the libraries in European universities are generally big and they are one of the supporting factor of reading and research culture. If we want to head there, we have to maintain the academic culture well,” said Amin.

In response to that statement, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mochammad Nasih, stated that academic culture should always be encouraged to the officials and students. He encouraged that all elements create synergy in improving academic culture.

For Nasih, similar viewpoint and goal should be the main pillar to make UNAIR be the world class university.

“With this meeting I hope we can have one goal. One viewpoint and mission to be a world class university,” he said.

UNAIR Rector also said that to grow the academic culture can be done through publications of research. The impact of high publications of research can improve UNAIR ranking position.

“Scientific works we produce and publish can be our good deeds. How so? When our works are read and actualize into goodness, they become our good deeds,” he stated. “Therefore, if we have a research, we should share and utilize it,” he added.

In the end, Nasih emphasized that the research effort conducted by the academicians should have global impacts.

“There are a lot of our works worthy to be read by international community and affect the global community. It should be improved,” he stated.
