Riska Maraya Generates 40 Million a Month from Brownies Business

UNAIR NEWS – Riska Maraya, a student of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is getting more successful in her business, Maraya Brownies. Starting from the passion of her mother to bake, it has been a big business. It is new product, which is only five months walk, but it has gained popularity.

“Indeed, I like doing business. Incidentally, my mother likes to bake a cake and I never sold it. Once, Mom told to sell it. At that time it was just marketed through Instastory. It turns out a lot of people were interested, ” she said.

“Back in high school, I sold shoes. In the beginning of college I sold veils. But I stopped due to inconsistency, ” she said.

An emphasis on taste and keeping up with the times with toppings, apparently, become the main attraction for the buyer. The toppings are green tea, ovomaltine, nutella, and creamcheese.

With the price of 40-55 thousand rupiah, Maraya Brownies can be enjoyed by buyers throughout Indonesia, even abroad. Riska ever got 40 million rupiah for gross profits.

“It was once ordered by Abel Cantika, one of the beauty vlogger. Then, once sent to Malaysia. My mother used to bake it, then I learn how and eventually can bake it myself, ” she said.

“Alhamdulillah, now we have our own production division and all. I’ve ever got 40 million a month but, it was the gross income because it has not included salaries, courier, human resources, and production expenses, “added the student who often becomes MC.

Asked about long-term planning, Riska admitted that she wanted to open a shop. However, for a moment she realized that at the moment technological advancement is more effective to run her business. However, Riska has not thought about whether she will actually open a shop or just develop it online .

“Nowadays, most people prefer ordering online rather than stopping at a shop. In addition, there must be lots of preparations to open a shop. So, for now I run it online first and it runs well, Alhamdulillah, “added the student who is completing her thesis. (*)
