UNAIR NEWS – Clean, healthy and disease-free skin is everyone’s dream. However, in reality many people have problems with the skin, such as acne. One cause of acne is a factor of microbial infection, especially the bacteria Propionibacterium acne that causes inflammation on skin.

One of the acne treatment solutions is by using natural ingredients, because the natural ingredient has no side effects, so it is safe to use.

One Universitas Airlangga Student Creativity Program (PKMK) team, which consists of Cholifatun Rustyana, Siti Auliya Agustin, Putri Rizkiana Sari, and Frisdiyanti Yahya created a product to solve the problem. The creation of this work has successfully passed the selection and was entitled to development fund from Kemenristekdikti in the 2018 PKM program.

The innovation of the four students from Faculty of Fisheries and Marine UNAIR is SEAVE GEL, a product made from natural ingredients, seaweed species Eucheuma cottonii and aloe vera that contain all types of vitamins, except vitamin D.

Cholifatun Rustyana, the team leader explains, that mineral content is needed for enzyme function. Saponin serves as an anti microbial. It is used for skin care, can remove acne (blackheads), moisturize the skin, skin detoxification, removal of scars and marks. Folic acid also protects the immune system and health of the body reflected on the skin.

As an output of this innovation program, Cholifatun and friends hoped that this innovation can be a profitable business with long-term prospects.

“We hope SEAVE GEL can be a natural alternative to overcome acne that becomes a problem in society, especially among teenagers,” explained Cholifatun. (*)
