Shafia Khairani Wants to Contribute to Hometown

UNAIR NEWS – Being a lecturer has been a dream and a career choice of Shafia Khairani. She is on the right track towards it as she was named as the best master program graduate from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). She was graduated from Disease and Veterinary Public Health Sciences program.

”If I had the chance to contribute to my alma mater, I would be grateful. If there is a vacant position as a lecturer, hopefully I will be given opportunity,” said the graduate with GPA 3.96.

To achieve her dream, the woman born in Lombok on October 21 1991 do not rely solely on her excellent academic result but she is also ready and prepared with competence needed to be a teacher. During her bachelor study in Veterinary Medicine, FKH UNAIR in 2010, Shafia was also named as the best graduate in March 2014 graduation.

Moreover, she was named as a student with achievements for three times in a row in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She has been an assistant lecturer in Department of Pathology and Department Veterinary Public Health, FKH UNAIR in 2012-2013. She is keen on writing and often participates at national or international level writing competition. She once won in”Essay Scientific Meeting” at Universitas Indonesia (UI).

“Winning or not is not a problem, writing is what most important,” she said.

In her thesis, Shafia studied common liver fluke (Fasciola gigantica) in cows based on its pathological and histopathological anatomy. She said that this species’ prevalence can reach 99%.

“Since working on my thesis, I always conduct my research in Lombok. I had principle that anywhere I work later, I have to contribute to my hometown even though I don’t have to go there,” Shafia determined. (*)
