UNAIR NEWS – Last August, the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) signed a cooperation agreement with PT Nusantara Medika Utama (PT NMU) which is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Bina Merdeka Indonesia Health Corporation (PT Pertamedika IHC). The signing session was done virtually between the Dean of FKM UNAIR, Dr. Santi Martini, dr., M.Kes. with the Director of PT NMU, Henny Veirawati, dr.

Trias Mahmudiono, SKM., MPH., GCAS., Ph.D., as the Vice Dean III of FKM, said that both parties agreed to cooperate, especially in Higher Education Tri Dharma, which is education, research, and community service.

Trias added that PT Nusantara Medika Utama plans to send some of their staff to study at the master’s and doctoral programs at FKM. This assigned study is expected to strengthen the quality of its human resources and improve the skills of its staff.

“Several study programs at FKM such as the Master of Health Administration and Policy (S2 AKK) or Master of Occupational Health and Safety (S2 K3) can certainly support the competence of the staff who especially work in hospitals,” he explained on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

PT Nusantara Medika Utama feels the collaboration between the company and FKM is one of the strategic partnerships. FKM also benefits from this collaboration. The students can do research or internships in hospitals managed by PT Nusantara Medika Utama.

“So, students who want to work on theses, master’s theses, or dissertations can do research at hospitals managed by PT Nusantara Medika Utama. The results of the research can later be used as feedback or input for them. So, this cooperation can be mutually beneficial,” he said.

The collaboration between PT Nusantara Medika Utama and FKM, continued Trias, will be implemented within five years. In the future, FKM will try to propose schemes related to community service activities that can be collaborated with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) so that it can help overcome health problems in the community.

“In essence, we (FKM, ed) hope that both parties can benefit from this collaboration. So, the programs owned by both parties can lead to a synergy,” he concluded. (*)
