UNAIR NEWS – Don’t use device excessively, study diligently, improve confidence and respect the teachers were some messages given by Drs. Suko Widodo, M.Si, to students visiting UNAIR on Monday, April 4.
As one of the advanced universities in Indonesia, UNAIR often receives visits from students and teachers of senior high school. This time, the head of Information and Public Relations Center(PIH) UNAIR received two visiting schools, SMAN 3 Madiun, and SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Vidya Dahana Patra (YPVDP), Bontang, Kalimantan Timur.
“I asked one of the students a moment ago. Where do you want to study? He said he did not know but he wanted to be a psychologist. That was okay, in my opinion, because most importantly everyone must have a dream. His dream was to be a psychologist,” said Suko as the head of PIH UNAIR.
But, a dream will only be a dream if there are no efforts to realize it. According to Suko, one of the technological advancements even hinders their progress at school as they are addicted to gadgets. Many students have difficult time to study as they tend to have fun with their devices.
“Now is no longer the time for only using WhatsApp or updating status “I’m sad”. Your good deeds will be accounted if you study and succeed in making your parents happy,” said the political communication expert.
For this visit, there were 109 students and teachers from SMAN 3 Madiun and 92 students and teachers from SMA YPVDP Bontang. They visited to gather information on UNAIR and its student admission system. (*)
