UNAIR NEWS – The commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of Indonesia is held with solemnity and splendor at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Thursday, August 17, 2017. As usual, the celebration was started with a flag ceremony followed by the academicians of UNAIR.
Then, followed with various competitions for academic community UNAIR, staff, lecturers, and all students.
In his address, the Rector of UNAIR Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, MT., SE., Ak, CMA., advised all ceremony participants to improve their quality especially in the field of education. With improved ability, contributions to the community can be maximized.
“Let us value the independence by keep bringing benefits to the surrounding,” said the man born in Gresik.
He also said, the practice of Higher Education Tri Dharma, education, research, and community service, should be done continuously and with quality. Because the practice is an obligation for every university. On the other hand, we can value Independence by being grateful and make the heroes struggle as an inspiration to do good in everyday life.
Prof. Nasih also said, this year UNAIR also commemorates 63rd Dies Natalis (Anniversary) on November 10, 2017. He hoped, Dies Natalis momentum can make the academicians more excited in working for the improvement of education quality in Indonesia.
In addition, UNAIR can give benefits to the surrounding community and contribute at global level, for the sake of the development of science.
After the ceremony, various competitions were held such as Parikan, Yells Competition, Karaoke, Slow Bike, and Make-Up.
Special for foreign students, there were competitions by Airlangga Global Engagement. Competition for foreign students include giant wooden footwear race, eating crackers, and inserting nails in bottles.
Prof. Anwar Ma’ruf, deputy director of the Postgraduate School, admitted that he was happy to attend this event . Therefore, this event is also a means for gathering academicians, who has not known each other, can be acquaintances and who already know each other, can be more familiar.
“Hospitality can be done through this kind of activity,” said Professor of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. (*)
