UNAIR NEWS – Top officials of Universitas Airlangga inspected the Floating Hospital (RST) “Ksatria Airlangga” which docked at Gresik Port, Saturday, September 16. The inspection was to see the readiness of the Floating Hospital for immediate operation.

Chairman of Ksatria Medika Airlangga Foundation who oversees the establishment of Floating Hospital UNAIR Christrijogo Sumartono, dr., Sp.An.KAR., said that is operational in one month. In the meantime, within one month, the Floating Hospital will be prepared for treatment rooms and other facilities to be fully operational.

“It should be docked in Surabaya. But the licensing process in Surabaya has not been completed, we finally arrived at Gresik, “said Chris.

At the port of Gresik, the crew will arrange several rooms on board as needed such as the operating room and other rooms. Chris also said, in four weeks the hospital will be fully operational.

“We have about 4 weeks to get operational,” Chris said.

Chris added, the Floating Hospital that was built together by alumni is expected to trigger the emergence of another Floating Hospital. “It’s as a trigger hospital, there may be other ships. This is our service for the alma mater, so that people can enjoy all services, “said Chris.

Meanwhile, UNAIR Rector Prof Dr Nasih after inspecting said that the Floating Hospital should be able to meet the hospital standard first, to be fully operational.

“As we saw the condition yesterday, I think there is still much to be improved. It must meet the standards as hospital, from operating room, inpatient room if any, toilets, bed,even the floor. It should be prepared as well as possible, “said Prof Nasih to UNAIR News , Monday, September 18.

As planned, the Floating Hospital will be inaugurated at the same time with the celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of UNAIR in November by inviting Vice President Jusuf Kalla. (*)
