Two Airlangga Srikandis at Asia Student Summit 2018

UNAIR NEWS – Bilqis Maulida Farahditaningtyas, Management class 2016 student and Rufidatid Darojatul Firdausiyah, Pharmacy class 2016 were two srikandis (women) managed to be in the 2018 Asia Student Summit delegation. The activity entitled “Developing the Next Generation of Leaders in Asia” took place in Seoul, South Korea on July 16-20, 2018 .

In this activity, Bilqis Maulida Farahditaningtyas with the Aanchal team as the leader (India), Harmoni (Vietnam), Aryan (India), Patricia and Christian (Philippines), Silvi and Gidy (Indonesia) and Miera (Malaysia) successfully won the title of Best Team Presentation through the essay they are working on Military theme in South Korea.

The student known as Bilqis explained that in working on the essay, the team decided to explore deeper on the response of Koreans regarding military service which is a policy of the government. In the process, the team decided to look for respondents consisting of four respondents, 2 two young respondents and two elderly respondents.

From these respondents, there were differences of opinion. The reason, the elderly feel no objection to the existence of military service to serve the country.

“While the younger respondents object because when they do military service, the salary they get is less than the salary earned when working outside. This is because, when do it, they are obliged to leave their jobs at that time, ” she explained.

Meanwhile, another UNAIR student, Rufidatid Darojatul Firdausiyah, or who is familiarly called Dosy, said that although she had not managed to get the award as the best presentation team, she claimed to have received many new lessons. One of them is through the case given to his team regarding Drinking Culture in South Korea .

“Because of the working process on the essay, I became aware on the history of drinking culture, and the comparison of the culture of drinking today and in the past,” she explained.
