UNAIR NEWS – In the near future, Universitas Airlangga will have three new sports facilities. The three sports facilities are basketball court, tennis court, and futsal court. All of them are outdoor and will be built adjacent in the area behind the building Student Center (SC) in Campus C UNAIR Jl. Mulyorejo Surabaya.
The complex will be 110 meters long and 60 meters wide. The construction of this facility is of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from PT. Harvest Gorontalo Indonesia, a company engaged in the field of herbal supplements. The agreement has been made in the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed in December 2017.
Currently, the development of the facility is in the design perfection phase. Therefore, Rector of UNAIR Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA accompanied by the Secretary of University Drs. Koko Srimulyo, M.Si., Thursday, January 4, inspected the site where the facility will be build.
Director of UNAIR Facilities and Infrastructure, Karnaji, S.Sos., M.Si., explained that the construction of the facility will begin early February, and is expected to be completed within four months. So in mid 2018, UNAIR academic community, especially students, can use these facilities.
“The development of these three courts will add sports facilities owned by UNAIR, futsal and GOR field that can be used for volleyball and basketball, as well as a rock climbing sports arena,” said Karnaji.
The project is fully handled by PT. Harvest Indonesia as the company that has the CSR program for UNAIR. The project value is estimated to be around Rp 1 billion.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of University Drs. Koko Srimulyo, M.Si., also hoped that there will be more sports facilities available for the academic community, especially for students.
In addition, it is expected to distribute the crowded UNAIR student activities. All this time, the sport activities are still centered in futsal court and GOR in campus C.
After the inspection, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih said that the construction of the three courts will commence soon. The goal was to make this sports facility available to be used by UNAIR students.
