UNAIR NEWS – Research is one of indicators of university’s advance development. As higher education institution, UNAIR keeps looking for breakthrough to encourage its civitas academica to gain more researches’ results, especially if the researches are Scopus indexed. One way UNAIR currently implements is by rewarding lecturers for their scientific publications. There were 451 lecturers with Scopus H-Index score were rewarded, 15 of them were researchers with the best Scopus H-Index score. The rewards were presented in an event Appreciation Award to UNAIR Lecturers which was held in the same occasion with a public lecture from Dato’ Sri Prof. Dr. Tahir, MBA.
The event was held in Garuda Mukti Hall. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., said some things on UNAIR research atmosphere. In order to improve excellent researches on Health without neglecting other field of study, the professor from FEB UNAIR explained some reasons behind low quantity of UNAIR researches which has been indexed at Scopus.
“The cause of the low Scopus indexed researches quantity, were inconsistent authors’ names, and some other names which were not affiliated with UNAIR, these kinds of things are being improved,” he said.
Nasih also emphasized that citation was not the main reason to increase researches, but the usefulness of the research results is seen from this citation.
“How far the research was used and accessed by the public, was seen from how many citations it had,” he added.
Similar with Nasih, Badri Munir Sukoco, SE, MBA, PhD as the Head of UNAIR Planning and Development Board (BPP) added that this appreciation was a way and an effort of UNAIR to encourage the researching lecturers to give their best for the public and especially for the students.
“Lecturers who conduct research, in order to improve their scientific knowledge, they can use their researches’ result in the learning process, in a way,” he said.
Interviewed in different place, Prof. Soetjipto, dr., MS., PhD., one of the fifteen lecturers with the highest Scopus H-Index score said that the step taken by the UNAIR high officials in this regard is a good start. The professor of FK UNAIR also added that it will be able to create young lecturers in UNAIR.
“With these appreciation, I’m sure UNAIR will be better, especially when researches which were appreciated were the ones with quality,” he said. (*)
