UNAIR NEWS – Distributing snacks and giving words of motivation, UNAIR Faculty of Nursing third-year students commemorated National Mental Health Day at Shared Lecture Building, MERR C Campus UNAIR Mulyorejo, on Monday, October 10, 2022.
“So it’s important for us to be concerned about the people around us because we will never know how our friends feel. Maybe right now they are in a difficult time, so give encouragement through this snack to show that we care about them, it can return their confidence,” said Dr Hanik Endang Nihayati S Kep Ns M Kep, as a lecturer in Mental Health course.
Dr Hanik also said that nowadays, mental health resilience will be the key to one’s happiness. So someone will be able to socialize well and give positive energy to others.
“Nowadays, the current of globalization is very strong, so this is a challenge for each person how to nourish the soul because all mental health is the key to being yourself so that you can continue to be productive and think positively,” she said.
Efforts to suppress mental health disorders
Indonesia, which is still struggling with mental health issues, must know how to reduce these incidents. According to Dr. Hanik, efforts can be made by giving dissemination in schools, providing assistance to our brothers and sisters indicated mental health, and showing more concern for others with simple things.
“Most importantly, it is essential to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist. We are human, it is very important to share our stories and to release our emotions so that a little of our burden can be reduced by forgetting them. So, if you are confused about who to talk to because cannot tell a friend, tell a psychologist, and that’s okay. It’s good for you,” she explained.
Dr. Hanik also hoped and advised that mental health comes from within, from a sense of calm and happiness. Therefore it is important to always think positively. Furthermore, choose the right problem-solving and, most importantly, get closer to God as the greatest source of strength.
