UNAIR Gets Third Place in 29th PIMNAS

UNAIR NEWS – The biggest scientific work event in Indonesia in 2016, ended on Thursday evening, August 11. The competition called 29th Student National Science Week (PIMNAS) and held in Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) was officially closed by the General Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D.

The 29^th PIMNAS was participated by 145 universities in Indonesia. The big three of PIMNAS was dominated by universities from East Java. The first place was Universitas Brawijaya (UB), the second place was Universitas Gadjah Mada and the third place was Universitas Airlangga. UNAIR has made an improvement as last year it was on the fourth place.

In the closing ceremony of 29^th PIMNAS, UNAIR sent 21 teams from all categories of Students Creativity Program (PKM). UNAIR contingent got 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

UB contingent with 31 teams got 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals while UGM got 8 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals. ITS got 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

Director of Student Affairs UNAIR, Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, and the head of UNAIR contingent, Agus Widiantoro, SH., M.Si., who supervised the contingent until the closing ceremony, said that they were glad and expressed their gratitude to all students and teams. Even though their dream to bring Adikarta Kertawidya trophy to the oldest university in eastern part of Indonesia has not been attained, at least UNAIR target to be in the big three was fulfilled.

UNAIR PKM team which succeeded in getting gold medals on presentation category were three exacta research teams (PKM-PE). Three of them were the paper titled “Paduan Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Sebagai Injectable Hydrogel untuk Terapi Penderita Degenerasi Diskus Intervertebralis (Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Composition as Injectable Hydrogel for Invertebral Disc Degeneration Patients’ Therapy)” presented by Cityta Putri and her team.

Then in Class 2, Inas Fatimah and her PKM-PE team’s paper titled “Inovasi Durameter Artifisial Berbasis Selulosa Bakteri – Kolagen dengan Plasticizer pada Kasus Trauma Kepala (Innovation of Artificial Durameter Based on Cellulose of Bacterial Collagen with Plasticizer on Head Trauma Cases) ”.

Third is the paper of Karina Dwi Saraswati and team titled “Studi In Vivo Poly-Lactid-co-glicolic-Acid (PLGA) dengan Coating Kitosan sebagai Selaput Penutup Organ Pencernaan untuk Aplikasi Kelainan Dinding Perut yang Terbuka (In Vivo Poly-Lactid-Co-Glicolic-Acid (PLGA) Study with Chitosan Coating as Digestive Organ Covering Membrane for Opened Abdominal Wall Defect)”. Those three teams which got gold medals on presentation category were teams supervised by Dr. Prihartini Widiyanti, drg., M.Kes.

There is one more gold medal on presentation category presented by Ulima Hapsari and her team with Entrepreneurship paper titled “PKM (Eye Comforting Patch) Anti Kantong Panda ”.

On poster category, UNAIR gold medals were presented by presentation class 1 PKM-K work of Indah Paraswati and team titled “Pemanfaatan Cangkang Kerang Simping (Placuna Placenta) sebagai Komoditi Usaha Pakan Ternak Unggas Non-Konvensional (Placuna Placenta Shell as Non-conventional Commodity in Bird Feeding Business) ”. And one more from class 2 PKM-K (Entrepreneurship) by Erwin Candra and team with poster titled “KUMAK: Kit Uji Merkuri dalam Air dan Kosmetik sebagai Cara Praktis Menguji Kandungan Merkuri dalam Kosmetik dan Air(Mercury Test Kit in Water and Cosmetics as Practical Way to Measure Mercury Content in Water and Cosmetics)”.
