UNAIR NEWS – Intellectual life of the nation is one of the four goals of the state. However, equality of access to education is still a major problem for Indonesia said a student of Faculty of Humanities, Imamatul Khair.
“The problems in the field of education is that there is no equality between the remote and urban areas, for example, remote areas do not have adequate facilities and infrastructure. Worse yet, educational personnel are also minimal, “said Imamatul explaining the problem of education.
Imamatul who was just competing in the arena of outstanding students at national level gave some suggestions to improve the education system in Indonesia.
“The government must tighten the rules of teacher acceptance, for example by applying teaching test. Central to regional supervision should also be more intensive because the application of teaching methods by teachers is quite draining. This is a challenge for educators who are less active, “said the 7th semester students.
The 72nd anniversary of Independence Day of Indonesia is the right moment to remind the citizens on the important task of working together. This bachelor’s degree English Literature student hoped that every citizen will realize that they have the same opportunity to grow.
If every citizen can innovate with their respective roles, it is not impossible that Indonesia can be independent.
“Start from what has not been done, make innovations that benefit the people, and empower justice in all aspects. Independence is indeed makes us able to move independently and avoid the shackles of outsiders, ” she said.
Currently, Imamatul and his colleagues have a community called Saghara Elmo. Saghara Elmo community was developed in Madura and since last year, along with about 20 colleagues from various circles including students in East Java visiting students in the region of Pamekasan and Sumenep to instill character education.
Imamatul also wants to be actively involved in the community. “When I know the real condition, then I will try to provide a solution rather than just complain,” added Imamatul.
