UNAIR NEWS – Earning some money while studying. Why not? The topic was discussed in a talk show in Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) 2018 at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), on Sunday, February 25. The speaker was a lecturer of Faculty of Economics and Business Tri Siwi Agustina from the Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center (PPKK) of Universitas Airlangga. She presented an overview of the entrepreneurial world on campus.
There were also two entrepreneur students in the talk show, Avelina, an accounting student, owner of Sempol Mumang, and Venny Melati, a management student, owner of Beauty Nature Kefir Mask and Yolk Time Rice.
To the prospective students, Tri explained that UNAIR does not only prepare the students to become graduates but also entrepreneurs.
UNAIR provides facilities to students who want to start entrepreneurship through training and supervision assistance from PPKK. Entrepreneurship programs can be followed by UNAIR students. One of them is PMW (Entrepreneurial Student Week), a program that provides facilitation and funding to ideas and concepts of student businesses.
“There are many entrepreneurs from this event (PMW, ed),” she said.

Tri added that there has been an entrepreneurial virus in the current generation. This happens because of the rapid pace of technological development. As a result, the orientation of life is more influenced by social media. Therefore, business opportunities, both micro and macro, are open widely.
On the other hand, Avelina conveyed how her business started. Her business was based on her desire to create a unique product, unlike others. Sempol Mumang’s idea came up.
“I want to make a different sempol product than others with cheese and other trending ingredients, ” she explained.
Venny said something similar. Theories she learns from the class led her to her business. Venny shared her experience for having acne on the face at the time. It inspired her to create a product called Beauty Nature Kefir Mask.
“It used to have pimply face. It happened because I often changed face masks. From this experience, the idea of making Kefir Nature Masker products came up, ” she said.
Tri concluded the talk show that there are many self-development facilities in UNAIR and entrepreneurship is one of them.
“At UNAIR, you are not only required to be a graduate, but also capable of entrepreneurship and creating job. Develop and optimize your ability here, ” she said. (*)
