UNAIR NEWS – The construction of the Campus E Universitas Airlangga in the North Gresik is realized soon. PT. Galasari Gunung Sejahtera as the partner met the officials of UNAIR on Wednesday, February 14. The meeting that took place in the Rector’s room took place in the framework of signing a joint agreement on land utilization and cooperation.

Djauhar Arifin as Commissioner of PT. Galasari Gunung Sejahtera as a subsidiary of PT. Palawija said that the construction of UNAIR campus E is aimed to improve the the region of North Gresik. It has received support from the government, both regents and governor to build UNAIR campus in Gresik.

“We have pioneered two years ago. It was the task of governor and regent, and supported by the central government to build the region of North Gresik, “said Arifin.

Land granted by PT. Galasari Gunung Sejahtera to UNAIR is ​​50 hectares, 5 hectares of which have been built for teaching farm of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH). “The point is for me as a local, I gave my assets to UNAIR. There is already a reservoir, research has been conducted. I hope  Campus E UNAIR can be built there, ” continued Arifin.

With the construction of UNAIR campus E, Arifin hoped that the northern Gresik region can align its progress with South Gresik. Like Universitas Indonesia, he expected Campus E in North Gresik can be parallel to the campus in Surabaya.

“If it runs well, I expect it to be like UI. Its Depok campus is in north Gresik, its Salemba is in Surabaya. If it succeeds, North Gresik will be equal to southern Gresik and other provinces in Indonesia. Our role is to build the industry, “he added.

Apparently, Arifin’s desire to improve the North Gresik is serious. Hopefully, by setting up a campus there, simultaneously other sectors will also be developed and improved. One of them is the economy of society. “Education is the last answer to make our society prosperous,” he said.

Galasari Gunung Sejahtera handed the region development over completely to UNAIR. Meanwhile the Rector of UNAIR Prof. Moh Nasih said that in 2018, at least five hectares of existing land can be built for teaching farm . The rest of the land will be built adjusted to the needs of facilities and infrastructure at UNAIR.

“It will be built as needed. Maybe for vocational or certain other programs. We already have Nursing Academy Gresik and Lamongan. We could have them there, ” explained Prof. Nasih.

Meanwhile, continued Prof. Nasih, the construction of educational facilities is still focused on Campus C first. “Now we focus campus C first,” he explained. (*)
