UNAIR NEWS – Some people call it “angin duduk“. In the language of medicine, it is referred as Angina Pectoris , one type of heart disease that attacks suddenly due to lack of oxygen supply in the heart muscle.
According to National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Atherosclerotic Risk in Communities (ARIC), deaths from this sudden attack reaches 37% in a year. Currently, detection of this health disorder can be done using Electro Cardio Graph (ECG).
Unfortunately, ECG can only performed in hospitals only, so the patients in remote areas has difficulty to have access to it.
From that important need, five students of Universitas Airlangga created a device that can be used to detect this disease early. The Invention Student Creativity Program Team(PKM-KC) from Universitas Airlangga are Ahmad Nurianto, Aji Sapta, Rahardian, Difa Fanani, and Novi Dwi.
After passing a rigorous selection from the General Directorate of Higher Education, the PKM-KC proposal by Ahmad Nurianto and friends is entitled to get developmental fund from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education’s 2016-2017 PKM program.
Described by Ahmad Nurianto, the device was named i-Humble , the abbreviation of Innovation Heart Monitoring Portable Device . It comes with digital filters and expert systems. Using a digital filter, it is intended that the graphics of the resulting heart signal are more readable.

Furthermore, the device is quite small in size, because the components used are digital components. With such a small size, this device is portable and can be used in emergency situations.
This device also has expert system which can detect the risk of patients suffering from the disease. This device also uses a touch screen display, so it is easily operated.
Answering news.unair.ac.id , Ahmad said, that the cost required to make this device is not big and the operation is easy.
“Thus we hope this tool can reach medical personnel located in remote villages in Indonesia, considering the early detection of angina pectoris and other heart disease is important for all Indonesian people,” said Ahmad Nurianto. (*)
