UNLAM Lecturer Djoni Sumardi Gozali, Best S-3 FH UNAIR Graduate

UNAIR NEWS –Dr. Djoni Sumardi Gozali, SH., M.Hum’s hard work, going “to and fro” between Banjarmasin-Surabaya ended beautifully. He was appointed the best graduate under the S-3 category Faculty of Law UNAIR, with GPA 3.86. While at the same time, other than going “to and fro” he had to spare his time between teaching and learning.

“During my S3 study I often stay in Surabaya, but when writing thesis I travel from Banjarmasin-Surabaya regularly, write more in Banjarmasin and consult my final paper in Surabaya. In between, I teach in Banjarmasin,” he said.

Djoni started teaching in 1986.  Right now he is a permanent lecturer at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (UNLAM) Banjarmasin. Then in 1988 until now Djoni is also a freelance lecturer at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Hukum Sultan Adam, Banjarmasin. From 2000 until 2006 he held Education Sector Head, Law Master Program UNLAM, whereas from 2006-2010 he held Education Sector Head, Regular B Program Faculty of Law UNLAM Banjarmasin.

Djoni chose agreement principal in land acquisition titled “Asas Kesepakatan dalam Pengadaan Tanah Bagi Pembangunan untuk Kepentingan Umum” for his dissertation. He chose the topic because he saw the phenomena in society about land acquisition which was forever interesting and always arose law problem and also a sense of justice.

For his service in education, in 2010 Djoni received Satyalancana Karya Satya Honorary Award for 20 years of his service from Indonesian President. In 1996 Djoni received an Award as Executive Coordinator Field Study (empiric) in Banjarmasin “Indonesia Law Development Diagnostic Study” from National Development Planning Institution Cooperation with Ali Budiardjo, Nugroho, Reksodiputro and Mochtar, Karuwin & Komar Law Consultant Office.

Nowadays Djoni is teaching S-1 and S-2 students at Faculty of Law UNLAM in Banjarmasin. After finishing his doctoral program, he was preparing himself for functional post,  that was Professor. “Tips for S-3 students is patience, because everything has its own time. Nothing can be gained instantly,” he advised. (*)
