UNAIR NEWS – Department of Communication Science FISIP UNAIR received a special visit from FISIP delegation of State University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Monday,  December 4, related to the efforts of UNS to implement the Asean University Network (AUN) program.

Vice Dean I of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNAIR Prof. Dr. Budi Prasetyo Drs. M.Si., welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude for the visit.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP UNS Prof. Dr. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni, MSI stated that UNAIR is a renowned university in Indonesia. “UNAIR has also run AUN. This is what we refer in preparing international accreditation, ” she said.

Prof. Ismi said that UNS as of next year will start its AUN program from Communication Science program and Public Administration program. This is the target of our faculty, as well as UNS.

Department of Communication Science FISIP UNAIR was referred by UNS Delegation, because in 2017 it got the highest score (4,8) for AUN accreditation among programs in UNAIR.

In presence of a delegation of 20 lecturers and staffs, Dr. Yayan Sakti Suryandaru, S.Sos, M.Si, presented his empirical experience in managing the AUN program.

In his explanation, Dr. Yayan Sakti S, who is also Head of Communication Studies Department stated that to pass AUN accreditation requires hard work and gutsy move.

“It’s like we are half bonek (reckless) ,” said Dr. Yayan, while stating that the faculty and university support also determine the achievement.

In response, Prof. Ismi Dwi Astuti Nurhaeni representing UNS acknowledged that the visit to UNAIR was very useful and needed. She also expressed her gratitude to UNAIR for sharing the experience. For UNS, the study visit provided insights in preparation for AUN.

“The implementation of this meeting hopefully can strengthen the relationship between UNAIR with UNS in developing Indonesian education,” she added. (*)
