UNAIR NEWS – The booth of Universitas Airlangga was crowded with senior high school students in “Campus Expo” event organized by the High School Counseling Teacher Assembly (MGBK) in Surabaya on Thursday, January 18. The Campus Expo was held at DBL Arena, Graha Pena, Surabaya City and attended by all high school students throughout Surabaya.
As explained by M. Imron as the Head of MGBK Surabaya, this educational exhibition is held to provide the information for students, especially those who will continue their studies to universities.
“This campus expo, students are expected they get enough information about the universities they choose,” said Imron.
Besides UNAIR, there were 55 other universities participating in the exhibition. They were not only from East Java, but also from other regions such as Trisakti University, Jakarta and Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta.
Although it was intended for high school students, but in the exhibition there were also vocational students who came to gain various information about universities.
“Visitors of the exhibition are all high school students in Surabaya, there are even some students from SMK,” explained Imron.
Representing UNAIR, Thia Aminah Rahmawati, S.Pi as the staff of Information and Public Relations Center said that the visitors asked about the cross-category program on SNMPTN, the cost to study at UNAIR, the passing grade of each department, prospects after graduation later.
“UNAIR does not have a passing grade, but we have competition rate. For example, Medical program’s rate for SNMPTN is 20.40. It means, 1 student competes with 20 others. In the Management Program, the rate is 21.97 or 22, so a student competes with 22 others, “said Thia.
Evika Aisyah, a student from SMA 10 Surabaya queued behind dozens of other visitors to gain information on how to enter Dentistry Program, Faculty of Dental Medicine. She said the exhibition was very useful for high school students as starting February 21 the registration of SNMPTN will be opened.
“This exhibition is very useful, so I know the capacity and the level of competition to enter FKG UNAIR,” said Evika.
Meanwhile, besides following the Campus Expo on several occasions, UNAIR also receives visits from schools which want to know more about UNAIR. In the same day, UNAIR received a visit from SMAN 11 Surabaya and SMAN 1 Manyar, Gresik. (*)
