UNAIR NEWS – There are a lot of stories about Community Service Program, especially in the outermost and remote areas, including in National KKN. This year ‘s Universitas Airlangga sent 15 delegates to attend National KKN in Lampung from July 23 to August 25.
Widyanti Wibowo became one of the lucky ones to participate in the event. The UNAIR Faculty of Law student also shared their experiences from KKN in Tirtakencana Village, Tulang Bawang Tengah Sub-district, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency, Lampung.
According to Widy, the problems in Tirta Kencana Village were related to youth and security. Not many young people there have a spirit for education especially eagerness to continue to high school, including college. In addition, early marriage is also common thing for women there.
“Actually, here you can say that the area is safe and there is already a security system. But, it’s rarely done recently. Until there was a theft. Here, we are trying to promote the security system activities again so the incident will not be repeated, ” she said.
To overcome these various problems, Widy and her colleagues made several work programs. For example, counseling on cervical cancer and education related to theft report in collaboration with the local police.
Furthermore, at KKN site, Widy found several differences between Lampung and Surabaya, from the absence of street lighting to lack of infrastructure.
“The village is not really at disadvantaged. In terms of facilities and infrastructure, it is inadequate and some of the roads are still land roads. Some areas are covered with natural rubber forests. If the night is quiet, dark, it can dangerous. Because, in fact, there are a lot of robbers in Lampung, “explained the seventh semester student.
So far, there has been a good response from the surrounding community and it makes Widy more enthusiastic in KKN. Not only that, the community also often provided input or advice to her team to hold other activities that were not planned in advance by Widy.
“The community response is extraordinary. Sometimes they also encouraged us to do activities different from what we plan to do such as making bags from a rope. We don’t implement our programs. But, we also mingle with people in our daily lives. In fact, they were very confident in us, ” she added. (*)
