UNAIR NEWS – Asia Young Sociopreneur Leader Exchanges (AYSLE) 2018 is an international event targeting young people. The goal is to invite young people to think critically and independently and able to make a breakthrough that can bring positive changes in human life. The event was attended by various representatives from many countries in Asia. It was held on 7-11 March 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the event organized by YOU CAN (Youth Center To Act For Nation), two students of Universitas Airlangga participated to represent the alma mater and Indonesia. They are Wijianto UNAIR Development Economics class 2015 and Firmansyah Tanto student of UNAIR Development Economics class 2016.
In order to pass the last stage, they were required to write a paper on the sociopreneur. Wijianto and Firmansyah wrote a paper entitled “Certification and Legality of Surabaya Bulk Fishing Center to Encourage Micro Economic Growth in the Region.”
“Besides for the competition, the article is also expected to encourage the growth of regional economic potential, especially in Surabaya,” said Wijianto.
In the event, the participants were formed in forum group discussion (FGD). In the forum, delegates from all over Asia sit together to discuss current issues and suggest policies that should be applied to address the problems, especially in social business.
There were also presentations on social business plans that were run at Asian Center and Embassy Bangkok with Chulalongkorn University lecturers. In this event, the participants were challenged to present their business plans. In addition, participants are required to realize their work into real business.
“We conducted city race while researching for one full day with other delegates. We learn a lot about the macro economy of Thailand, “said Firmansyah.
Meanwhile Wijianto is proud to represent UNAIR in the event. Wijianto and Firmansyah were very impressed with the activity.
“I gain a lot of knowledge, networking, and I know how to express opinions and share thoughts with all participants. It also opened my mind that as a student we must be sensitive to the surrounding environment. So, we can be a bridge to include environment around us as a new micro-economic growth, “he explained.
At the end, Wijianto hoped he can be a pioneer for students, especially economic students that it is time for economics students to create an entrepreneurial environment to support economic growth in Indonesia.
