UNAIR NEWS – Dita Elvia Kusuma Putri is a student of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Faculty of Law (FH) class of 2018 who was elected as Chair of the Indonesian New Generation (GenBI) Surabaya Madura Coordinating Commissariat (KorKom Suramadu). The student known well as Dita is the youngest candidate among the candidates.

“Actually, I only joined GenBI for one year, to be more precise, when I was in the fifth semester,” she said.

GenBI itself is a community where members are recipients of Bank Indonesia scholarships. Furthermore, Dita explained that the GenBI KorKom Suramadu had members from eight universities.

Within the GenBI community, there are many activities carried out such as activities for environmental development, economic development, and activities aimed at increasing the capacity and knowledge of GenBI members.

Before being elected as the chair, Dita said that she was running as a candidate for the chair of KorKom through the university commissariat first. Then, the university commissariat will determine whether she has the right to run as a candidate for chair of KorKom Suramadu or not.

“As a result, one of my friends and I represented UNAIR and run as a candidate for the chair of KorKom Suramadu position,” she said.

Furthermore, Dita revealed that the total number of candidates was 12 people. Due to the pandemic condition, continued Dita, Bank Indonesia and the committee agreed that out of the 12 candidates, only four candidates would be screened. Then, one in four candidates will be elected as the chair through the e-voting system.

“After being elected as chair, of course, I feel happy because my friends have given me their trust,” she said on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

There are four rooms which Dita initiated as missions for GenBI KorKom Suramadu in the future. The four rooms consist of an understanding room, service room, dedication room and a work space.

Given that the pandemic is still not over, continued Dita, activities that must be carried out offline will certainly pay attention to health protocols. She also said that there would be restrictions on the number of members attending the offline activity.

“For the closest agendas, I expect the activities in GenBI will still be carried out online,” she said.

In the end, Dita invited members of GenBI KorKom Suramadu to collaborate, try to work together, improve and listen to each other towards advanced Indonesia. (*)
