Pramuka should Go Along with Developments

UNAIR NEWS – In Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office Building Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Vice Governor of East Java Drs H. Saifullah Yusuf inducted scouting counseling and supervising council of Gugus Depan (Gudep) Surabaya 622-623 Universitas Airlangga Base on Wednesday afternoon. Following the management induction for 2016-2019 term was the opening of Basic Scouting Course of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

The inducted officials were UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., AK., CMA as the chairman, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp.PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM as the daily chairman, Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH., CN., as deputy chairman, and Drs. Koko Srimulyo, M.Si as the secretary.

Other official inducted were for Community Service division, Cooperation and Human Resources division, Martial Arts division, Telecommunication and Information Development division, also Archiving and Knowledge division. The other inducted scouting management were the supervising leader of Gudep Surabaya 622 and 623 also the Audit Agency.

In his report, Prof. Nasih stated that scouting movement should be in the front line in the efforts to revitalized the campus condition.

“Independent, non-partisan, also highly regarding academic performance can’t be separated from values of couting movement. Our environmental condition change drastically. It is no longer the same. All environments should give lessons. Learning should not only from teachers or lecturers but also from the environments,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor of East Java, Saifullah Yusuf or known as Gus Ipul, in his speech stated that to avoid being out-dated, scouting movement should go along with the era development.

“Pramuka should provide education appropriate with era development, so it won’t be outdated. If necessary, we should use sophisticated technology. We want this scouting movement belongs not only to the government but also to people.  Hopefully it will make East Javanese scouting movement can be good examples for other provinces,” he said.

In the occasion Gus Ipul also said that his team is developing women division. “Women will be empowered so that scouting movement was not only the managements’ but also belongs to people as expected by Bung Karno,” he said.

The vice Governor also opened the Basic Souting Course UNAIR. This course will commence today until Sunday, May 8.

Basic Scouting Course opened will be held in Branch Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatcab) of Scouting Movement Surabaya. In the course, participants will be trained to be the supervising scouts. The participants were from UNAIR or other universities and they were trained by trainers of Pusdiklancab Surabaya.

Eka Titik Wuryanti as the jead of UKM Pramuka UNAIR said that our scouts’ current challenges were to introduce scouting movement to the people as it has various activities. Those various activities are to develop personal character and give many lessons.

“Following program later will be internship development and leadership development. They will get character education, on how to make the right decision, good communication and practical things. Hopefully, UNAIR scouting movement can bring positive effects to UNAIR,” he said. (*)
