UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar leaderships included Vice Rector I UMI Prof. Dr. Syahnur Said and Vice Rector V UMI Prof. Dr. Ma’ruf Hafidz and their staff from Institute of Quality Assurance (LPM) UMI visited UNAIR on Thursday, February 4, for a comparative study on quality assurance.
“We are putting in our efforts to get better accreditation, for the programs or the institution. And UNAIR has been accredited A, that’s why we came here,” said the man who was also UNAIR alumnus.
In his official address, Vice Rector I UNAIR Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp.PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM said that UNAIR had gladly welcomed UMI visit. He explained that it was also a part of UNAIR’s roles in order to educate the life of the nation.
“UNAIR has been audited by British Standard Institution (BSI) with Malcolm baldridge Score 703 or already in the category excellent level. It was improved from the previous category industry leader. We keep doing improvements so in the next five years we can be in Top 500 World Class University,” said the former Vice Dean II Faculty of Medicine on quality assurance system in UNAIR. Prof. Djoko also reminded the attendees that UNAIR also has limits, even so UMI was expected to learn much from UNAIR in this comparative study for UMI’s future improvements.
The Head of Quality Assurance Agency, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektyari., drh., DEA then explained that UNAIR right now has AIMS (Airlangga Integrated Management System) as the integrated quality assurance system.
“AIMS accelerates quality targets achievements time after time. We still refer to Dikti’s standards, but it is more important to have our own quality target to achieve. AIMS has higher standards than Dikti’s,” said the former Head of UNAIR Student Admission Center.
Prof. Bambang explained further that efforts to improve quality should get full supports from the university’s leaderships.
“Leadership is an important aspect of university quality improvement. UNAIR has leaderships which concern with this improvement. UMI’s visit also proves that UMI’s leaderships also concern with it,” he added.
UNAIR FKH Professor also said that this quality assurance should be conducted by every university because it is a part of getting the people’s trusts. (*)
