UNAIR Rector Confirms 644 New Postgraduate Students

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., confirmed 652 new postgraduate students from master, doctoral, specialist, and profession degree for even semester 2015-2016, on Thursday, February 11.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from provincial attorney general’s office, Kodam V Brawijaya, Naval Academy (AAL) and UNAIR officials such as from the Board of Trustees (MWA), Academic Senate, Deans, Professors, and Heads of programs, also heads of institutes in UNAIR. It was held in Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office UNAIR.

From 652 postgraduate students, 202 students were from Faculty of Medicine (FK), 10 students were from Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), 152 students were from Faculty of Law (FH), 159 students were from Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), 9 students were from Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), 16 students were from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), 23 students were from Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 13 students were from Faculty of Public Health (FKM), 8 students were from Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), and 52 students were from Postgraduate School.

In this ceremony, all students took an oath, Students’ Oath to the Alma mater, and then continued with the awarding of Indonesian Planning and Cooperation of Foreign Affairs Bureau scholarships from the rector. The symbolic awarding of the scholarship was given to Abdulrahman Taresh Abdulghani, foreign student in doctoral program FEB UNAIR. After that, rector read his formal address.

In his official address, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih, encouraged the students use research and scientific study as the bread and butter of science and technology development in UNAIR.

“In master program, the students should have more proficiency than the bachelors. This proficiency is especially on creative aspect of their field of tusy and productivity aspect on findings in researches. Then, in doctoral program, the students have to be able to conduct independent researches,” Prof. Moh Nasih said.

“Campus should be able to take roles by increasing researches focused on finding practical solution of the nation’s problem,” said the professor of accounting from FEB UNIAR.
Rector also added that scientific researches conducted will make real contributions to the field of the study. (*)
