UNAIR NEWS – Directorate of Student Affairs Universitas Airlangga provided scholarships to elementary students in the East and West Mulyorejo Districts, Surabaya. The ceremonial scholarship handover was conducted on Monday, September 26, 2022, in Kahuripan Room 301, Management Office, Campus C UNAIR.

UNAIR Director of Student Affairs, Prof Dr. M Hadi Shubhan SH MH CN, gave an opening speech at the event. The UNAIR scholarship was expected to provide aid to the local community.

He said that the pandemic has fatally impacted the families’ financials and the children’s learning needs. Therefore, the scholarship was targeted at students with financial problems.

“The annual scholarship handover is a form of UNAIR’s contribution to the community. As a higher education institution, we have a great concern with education environment surrounding campuses, including UNAIR Campus C,” Prof Hadi said.

The scholarships were addressed to 210 students from 10 elementary schools, SDN Mulyorejo 1, SDN Sutorejo 1, SDN Kalijudan 1, SDN Manyar Sabrangan II, SD Hudayatul Ummah, SDN Kalisari I, SDN Kalisari II, SDN Kejawan Putih I, SD Al-Huda, and SD Al-Islam.

The schools welcomed the UNAIR scholarship program enthusiastically. Imam Suryadi, the Headmaster of SDN Mulyorejo I, expressed his gratitude for the scholarship assistance for the students.

“Hopefully, the scholarship program will continue regularly in the upcoming years. Insya Allah [God’s will], we will carry out the program accordingly, particularly for the students with financial problems, which have been carefully selected by our team,” he said.
