UNAIR NEWS – Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni by acclamation was chosen as the Chairman of Central Management of Universitas Airlangga (PP IKA-UA) for 2017-2021, in IX IKA-UA Congress, held in Sheraton Hotel Surabaya, Saturday, April 15. The Alumni of Faculty of Economics UNAIR in 1972 replaced the previous chairman, Prof. Dr. Hatta Ali, SH., MA., who is taking office as the Supreme Court Chief Justice.
In the congress presided by Dr. Akmal Boedianto, SH., MH, and with his four deputies he checked all 24 representatives of regional and branches from across Indonesia. Faculties’ representatives. 22 representatives voted Haryanto, one vote was for Dr. Pudjo Hartono, dr., Sp.OG., and one vote invalid.
The appointment which officially promoted First Chairman IKA-UA 2012-2017 to be the Chairman of PP IKA-UA, has long been predicted before the congress. When Prof. Hatta Ali did not want to be re-elected, there were no other alumni willing to be the chairman. Therefore, the businessman born on December 5, 1952 succeeded to hold the post of Chairman as almost all representatives supported him.
In his official address as the elected Chairman of PP IKA UA, the man who has a mining business expressed his gratitude to all alumni who trusted him to lead the alumni association of UNAIR.
”When you all trust me, I expect we can work together to assist and contribute for this IKA-UA advancement, so we can always strengthen our ties and supported the alma mater even better in the future,” said Haryanto Basoeni.

Regarding the programs, he did not want to develop them alone. Working programs in his opinion should be aspired by all members of IKA-UA management. In forming the cabinet, Haryanto as the head of formation team appointed four members, Dr. Budi Widayanto from the previous management, Dr. Akmal Boedianto from IKA Faculty representative, Dr. Hendy Hendarto, dr., Sp.OG Provincial IKA representative, and Drs. Sumpono, M.Si from IKA Branch Jember representing IKA branches.
”Besides the real situational program, we will continue the efforts to strengthen the alumni network and database update. From 120 thousands of alumni, only small part of them update their data, most of them still use the old database when they were still in UNAIR, which is of course different from the current data, so it should be updated on IKA-UA website,” said Haryanto.
PP IKA UA will continuously invite the alumni, who have performed in any structural positions in public or private institutions, domestic or abroad. “We will embrace them all, without exceptions, as it is important to strengthen the network and to support the alma mater towards Top 500 World Class University (WCU),” he stated to the press.
The nearest program in time was decided from the last term, IKA-UA will support the success of floating hospital ”Ksatria Medika Airlangga”. This floating hospital is made of phinisi boat, special boat of Bugis tribe. The vision and missions of this floating hospital is to support distribution of healthcare service to all members of society with difficult access to healthcare service in remote islands. (*)
