UNAIR NEWS – The academic excellence of Universitas Airlangga in Medicine and Social Sciences has attracted overseas universities to establish partnerships. Today, May 8, the academic partnerships officials of University of Hull, England, made a visit to UNAIR talk about potential partnerships with UNAIR officials.
The Vice Rector for Academic Partnerships and Publications Prof. Amin Alamsjah, Head of International Office Partnership Dian Ekowati, Ph.D., and some representatives of UNAIR work units welcomed four delegates of University of Hull.
There were Director of Academic Partnership Andrew J. Abbot, Manager of International Partnerships Caroline M. Michel, Associate Dean International Lynne Barrow, and International Manager British Council Audrie Sanova.
In the meeting, Amin explained the academic excellence of Universitas Airlangga, such as being ranked four among best universities in Indonesia, having excellent research center on tropical diseases and stem cell. Besides on research, Vice Rector III UNAIR also explained other international collaborations established with UNAIR.
“We have also established partnerships with researchers from Japan, Holland, and the U.S.A,” said Amin.
The delegation of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, dr. Kristanti Wanito Wigati, hoped that her faculty can establish collaboration with University of Hull. Kristanti said that excellent researches on tropical diseases and stem cell. Beside research, FK and partners also often establish student or staff exchange program.
“We also hold anatomical workshop routinely with excellent laboratory equipment, said Kristanti.
Besides Medicine, there is other potential collaboration to be conducted with University of Hull. Vice Dean III of Faculty of Public Health, Ira Nurmala, Ph.D., in the discussion said that there are some similarities between FKM UNAIR and University of Hull.
“In Hull, organizational behavior is studied specifically, but here it is included in health promotion department,” said Ira. She also hoped that both Faculty of Public Health UNAIR and University of Hull can send students for exchange program.
One of the delegates of University of hull, Andrew said that he was interested to establish official collaboration with UNAIR. Academic and research reputation of UNAIR was one of their reasons to establish partnership with academic community in South East Asian countries.
In the end, academic activities potential for collaboration were student exchange and research collaboration to improve scientific publications.
