FH Academician as Visiting Researcher at NUS Law School

UNAIR NEWS – Dr. Herlambang Perdana Wiratman, SH, MH became the first academician of the Faculty of Law in Indonesia to be invited by the National University of Singapore Law School’s Center of Asian Legal Studies (CALS) to conduct research collaboration. The collaborative research took place from May to June 2017.

CALS is one of the leading centers of study in Asia established in 2012. It is part of NUS’s legal strategy to position itself as a law school at an Asian scale. It also studies legal developments in the Asian region.

“I was invited to collaborate on research and writing, both in the form of books and journal articles. In addition, I also delivered lectures and become a speaker in two conferences of book reviews titled pluralism jurisprudence and the challenge of becoming a lawyer , “said one lecturers of the Constitutional Law.

Furthermore, at NUS Herlambang also gave a lecture on “Adat Court in Indonesia’s Judicial System: Constitutional Law Analysis” which was attended by lecturers, professors, and students from various degrees.

“Their response was very good. It can be seen from their enthusiasm when asked questions. In the occasion, I got about 20 questions. The discussion time provided was not enough, “said Herlambang to UNAIR NEWS on Thursda, June 15.

There is a good relationship between FH UNAIR and NUS. Previously, one of the NUS lecturers was invited to FH UNAIR to give a lecture. From that cooperation finally Herlambang was invited to do research at the law faculty of the best university in Asia.

Being a researcher and guest lecturer at a foreign university is nothing new for Herlambang. Previously, Herlambang has often fulfilled invitations from various universities abroad, such as the Asia Research Center Murdoch University, Australia (2012), Graduate School of International Development of Nagoya University, Japan, (2015), as well as Vietnam National University Law School and Cantho University Law School , Vietnam, (2017).

“I hope with this opportunity and collaboration make the relationship FH UNAIR and NUS Law School is even stronger. For me, the academic profession is really fun if we really are interested to study more. Scientific must be prioritized for the advancement of Indonesia, “added the man who won Ashoka award in 2001.

As planned, after completing the research at NUS Herlambang will attend the invitation at Melbourne Law School as visiting lecturer . (*)
