Islamic Economics Department Holds Competition for 31 Startup Entrepreneurs

UNAIR NEWS – Department of Islamic Economics Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga held The 3rd Islamic Economics Startup Acceleration Night. Awarding Night event, the end of a series of courses on Islamic Entrepreneurship and Business, was held in Fadjar Notonegoro Hall on Thursday July, 13.

Before the awards ceremony began, the entire team had a match-making. A total of 31 entrepreneurial business teams introduced a business profile as well as its revenue achieved for one semester. The goal is to attract investors.

Each team will make a presentation in front of investors. Later, the selected business will be funded by investors.

“This annual routine agenda is the awarding night, evaluation, as well as enrichment of entrepreneurship courses. Compared to previous years, this time will emphasize sustainability. Therefore, external parties who can provide direction and input are invited, “said Noven Suprayogi, M.Si., Ak, a lecturer of Islamic Economics program in his address.

The same thing conveyed by Dr. Achsania Hendratmi, SE, M.Si, as the person in charge of entrepreneurship course. Achsania hoped this business can be continued considering the business in the real sector is one way to make the community prosperous.

“Don’t be afraid to fail. Repeated failures means success is near. Remember that the Prophet Muhammad is a businessman, ” said Achsania to the students.

In the end of the event, the winners were announced. The Best Revenue award was awarded by Jawa Dwipa team who proposed a business of ​​tour services offering various packages, ranging from children’s holiday to religious tourism. The Best Start Up Pivot achieved by Mokari, the business of various flavored keciput from Mojokerto.

“Mokari deserves this award because of their struggle to turn a stuck business. In the Mid-Semester exam period, it collected 300 thousand but thanks to the tenacity of the five women back and forth Surabaya to Mojokerto, they finally managed to collect Rp 15 million, “said Achsania.

Sentra Fish Bulak (SIB) Catering won as a sociopreneur for helping to market cater business of Kenjeran mothers to get Best Business Networking. It could not be separated from the significant role of SIB Catering which provides benefits for the Kenjeran community. Meanwhile, Best Product Innovation awarded to Thug.Sub, a sociopreneur producing gethuk with variants of flavour.

The final award was given to Berkah Waqf as Best First Round Financing. Later on, Berkah Waqf which is engaged in the business of mudharabah mutlaqah-based fund-raising will get the opportunity to be financed by the investor, Rizky Supriadi, SE., Ak., MBA as the leader of Alumni Association FEB UNAIR as well as the President Director of PT.  Graha Mukti Indah.
