UNAIR NEWS – Andi Hamim Zaidan, S.Si. M.Si, Ph.D is a Physics lecturer in Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga. He was born in Mojokerto, April 22 1983. His academic career in Physics was started when took his bachelor program in Institut Teknologi Bandung and graduated in 2005. He then also continued to master program in Institut Teknologi Bandung and graduated in 2007. After a few years, he took his doctoral degree in University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia Bulgaria, and finished it in 2013 with dissertation titled Thin Chalcogenide Film for Optoelectronics.
From 2007 to 2010, Zaidan, teaches in FST UNAIR. He teaches Quantum Physics, Physics I, Electromagnetic Field, Quantum Mechanics, Physics Practice I, Experimental Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Basic Physics 2, Core Physics, Nanomaterial and a lot more.
During his service in UNAIR, Zaidan has often received awards or appreciation for his works such as Outstanding Lecturer I Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR, Outstanding Lecturer III UNAIR and German Industry Scholarship.
In publications, Zaidan has published a lot of his works such as his scientific work called Folate Receptor Mediated In vivo Targeted Delivery of Human Serum Albumin Coated Manganese Ferrite Magnetic Nanoparticles to Cancer Cells (2016), An in vitro Anti-microbial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) with Blue LEDs to Activate Chlorophylls of Alfalfa Medicago sativa L on Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (2016), Application of two-Output Port Fiber Coupler as Gasoline Level Sensor (2016), Chlorophyll Mediated Photodynamic Inactivation of Blue laser on Streptococcus mutans (2016) and many more.
Zaidan is listed as one of nanotechnology experts in UNAIR. Nanotechnology or Nanoscience is the science and technology in nanometer scale or one billionth meter. Nanotechnology is the technology produced from exploiting molecules characteristics or atomic structure at nanometer scale. So, if the molecule or a structure can be made in nanometer scale, they will produce new extraordinary characteristics. These new characteristics can be used for technology and then it is called nanotechnology.
“Nanotechnology is one of the answers for the challenges of time. UNAIR needs to develop this science extensively and in depth. On one side, it needs synergy and multidisciplinary mind pattern to manage it maximally,” he said.
Science and technology development is one of the answers for the challenges of time. It is absolute. The objective is to simplify people’s life. (*)
