BI Goes to Campus, It’s Time for Youth to Build Indonesia’s Economy

UNAIR NEWS – BI Goes to campus takes place in six different locations throughout Indonesia for a year. Started at Mulawarman University of Samarinda, Muhammadiyah University and Universitas Islam Indonesia Yogyakarta, Samratulangi University of Manado, the fourth event was held at Universitas Airlangga and Sepuluh Nopember Technology Institute Surabaya.

At UNAIR, the Deputy Director of Public Information and Digital Communication Service Division of Bank Indonesia Communications Department Edhie Haryanto, Manager of Economic Monetary Policy Department Asrianti Mira Anggraeni, and Director of the Money Management Department of Bank Indonesia Luctor Tapiheru .

The event which was aimed to provide education in building the nationalism and love of rupiah took place at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) on Tuesday, November 21. This time, the theme of BI Goes to campus was “Cinta Rupiah”. The event was filled with public lectures to talk shows and workshop.

According to Edhie, the young generation is a world that cannot be separated from creativity, especially from IT ( information and technology) . The rapid development of technology provides an opportunity for them to develop their creativity.

“They can make videos, blogs, and media that can be used as a means of socialization in the present era. Never stop learning to be a keyword for the younger generation in order to continue to grow, “he said.

Mira added, the paradigm of love rupiah could have an impact on the economic development of Indonesia. The role of society to support the rupiah is needed. The goal is to keep rupiah stable so that it can support sustainable economic growth.

In the general lecture, it was explained that the current economic development of Indonesia has increased and has good prospects. Inflation growth is at a stable level of 3 percent with stable rupiah exchange rate.

“The Indonesian economy as a whole is still improving. Optimism of practitioners and investors shows a positive trend, “said Mira in front of undergraduate and graduate students.

“Students must continue to learn and understand the Indonesian economy. Students should be able to contribute to the state, not only by using weapons, but also by supporting the local industry to improve its competitiveness globally, ” he added. (*)
