FH UNAIR Students Becomes East Java Language Ambassador

UNAIR NEWS – Alfyan Wahyu Ramadhan, Faculty of Law Faculty (FH) of Universitas Airlangga , succeeded to become the first winner in East Java Language Ambassador Election 2018 on Thursday, July 30 at East Java Language Center. This success at the provincial level, Alfyan had the opportunity to follow the same event at national level in August.

Before winning, Alfyan first followed a selection process including essay writing. Next is an interview with three main topics, linguistic insight, foreign language, culture, and literature.

For Alfyan, increasing self potentials is very important. Various preparations are made including reading articles or linguistic issues and learning the General Spelling Guidelines of Indonesian (PUEBI). However, the fifth semester student admitted the limited information about the language becomes one of the obstacles for him.

“My pleasant experience in following this event is to meet young people who care about the existence of Indonesian and local languages ​​from almost all districts or cities in East Java. We exchanged ideas and I think it is a good thing, “said Guk Sidoarjo 2017.

After winning, Alfyan has the responsibility to be a role model in linguistic skill that have been made, including being a partner of the East Java Language Center conducting language center programs.

“I read a lot about literature, linguistics and cultural issues. In addition, study Indonesian language proficiency as a benchmark of our language skills, to preserve local languages, and master several foreign languages, “he said when asked about tips for prospective participants.

Besides Alfyan, there are other UNAIR students who participated in the event. They were Ahmad Fauzi, a student from Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG), and Rininta Oktavira Kristanti, a student from Faculty of Humanities (FIB). Both became the second best pair. There was also Aulia Firdaus Brilianti, a student from Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) as the third best Miss. (*)
