UNAIR NEWS – The faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM) held the first Sustainable Energy and Green Technology Applications (SEGTA) program in 2022. SEGTA is a series of academic lectures, community service, and community development events involving international students and lecturers.
“With 31 participants from 17 countries, SEGTA is a combination of academic lectures, inbound students, and inbound staff,” said Vice Dean III FTMM UNAIR Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M.Sc
Participants consist of undergraduate, masters, and doctoral program students. From this program, Prof. Retna expected that there would be research or publication collaborations in the future. According to Prof Retna, UNAIR excels in community services and community development, and few countries focus on that field.
The event held from Wednesday, November 9, 2022, to Sunday, November 13, 2022, introduced the research products of FTMM that have been used by communities in several areas such as Giliyang, Bintan, Banyuwangi, and Gempol. One of the products is hydroponic solar which is used for smart farming in Gempol.

Prof Retna revealed that SEGTA is held as a means of branding for UNAIR, FTMM, and their products that are ready to be used. “For lab scale products, we don’t exhibit them. It’s still in the research phase.”
Participant from Pakistan, Muhammad Fahad Malik, who is in charge of Master of Law at UNDIP said that the context of sustainability is not limited to specific fields. But that is what the world needs today.
“The world grows every day. The population, the pollution, and so on. So we need to strive for a sustainable environment with the existing tools,”
Fahad gave an example of efforts he can make to realize environmental sustainability with his master’s degree in Law by making laws and policies on climate change, security and order between the human race, and gender equality.
“So all of this (efforts. ed) aim to achieve a sustainable world, which develops well and does not put us in danger,” he concluded.
